RELAY FOR LIFE...

On Friday night I took the three boys to walk in "Relay for Life", a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I'm proud to say that our family raised $355 for this charity event! THANKS to all of you for your support!!

I took the boys over early and we helped to set up the team site, then watched the opening ceremony & color guard... heard the survivor introductions and clapped while they did the survivor lap... and then we did a team lap. The boys helped hold the church banner (Patrick on far left, Kevin on the right), and Ryan & I brought up the rear of the pack. Ryan made it about 1/3 of the way, then we just walked down the middle of the track back to the team site.

The boys walked the team lap and then took off for the playground with some of the other kids, and Ryan and I watched the clown for a little bit. He didn't want to get NEAR the clown, but he just stood and watched him with this horrified expression on his face LOL! (I didn't post those pictures.)

Ryan & I then tried to walk another lap, and we made it about 1/2 way around. During our "lap", our team members lapped us TWICE at their leisurely pace, but the audience got a lot of entertainment value out of him spinning in circles in the middle of the track... stopping to sit down & play with the car he got from the Avis golf cart that was selling rides around the track... etc... He was quite amusing!

We left after spending about 2 hours there & I was able to get the kids all showered up & in bed by 8:30 pm. I feel really badly for the folks who were walking overnight -- there were SEVERE storms that came through our area, and there were actually tornado warnings :( . What dedication to a worthy cause!
