POWER OF THE POINT...

It's so hard to be "cool" when you're a Mom. Sigh...

On Thursday Patrick brought home a packet from school with an offer for him to do an extra special project (versus the basic project all the other kids in the class are doing). Well, we talked about it and although I signed off on it, HE just did NOT want to do it! Well, part of the project was doing it in PowerPoint, so I tried to get him interested by telling him how Mommy used to use PP ALL THE TIME when she worked at her job and how much fun it was. No go. We sent it back on Friday & I sent the teacher an email letting her know that he was very reluctant to do the project. I also asked her to send it back so that his Dad could look at it over the weekend & we could talk to Patrick about it once more.

The parents tried their best... we even implied openness to bribery... and he still wouldn't go for it. Said he just was NOT interested in the subject, so we just told him it was his decision.

Today he walked in & I asked him which project he picked to do instead of the special one, and he said -- "Oh, I said I'd do it. Did you know that we get to use LAPTOPS and it isn't a PAPER report???"

>grrrrr<

Since I was feeling contrary I pulled up PowerPoint on my laptop here and said, "Yes, you're using PowerPoint, just like Mommy has." This really excited him, so I may have hit some coolness quotient -- but I'm not sure LOL!!
