The boys' Karate Test to earn their Green belts was on March 15th -- so they earned them just in time for St. Patrick's Day! What good little Irish-blooded boys... >wink<
Here they are doing their test katas and also their sparring ("kumite"). The little boy Patrick got paired up with (a higher belt) is usually pretty aggressive during kumite, and the last time he was with Kevin he pretty much beat the snot out of him. As I relayed this, Gramma pipes up with, "Oh, that's what I was HOPING to see!"
And people wonder where *I* get it??!!!!!!!???
Anyway, it was great that Gramma & Grampa stayed in order to see the boys test. They were so proud to have them there that night! They are now officially halfway to black belt status... and the "new" thing this quarter will be that during kumite they have to wear foot pads and will be taught some swing kicks or something or other....
