Last year during school conference 4-day weekend we went up to Michigan to celebrate Gramma Mac's birthday. This year we did the same! However, we weren't allowed to actually celebrate a birthday, as she says she's stopped having them. So it was the anniversary of the last birthday... >>wink<<
We took the kids to the Detroit Science Center and they seemed to enjoy it. The big boys got to shoot off bottle rockets, do some science experiments with sunscreen, and Ryan got to sit in a forklift (the high point of his life so far!). Papaw got to talk to Patrick about stamping in a steel plant and the boys "jammed" in a studio with some electronic drums & bass guitars.
We then took the kids to the Children's Museum which reminded me of a large school classroom. It was great for Ryan, but I think that the big boys were expecting something like the Indianapolis Children's Museum, so they were a bit disappointed.
Since Sullen was being such a pain that day, we ended up the day with a trip to Borders (after we'd gone to Eastern Market with Gramma). He was very happy to find the other triology of Star Wars stories.
The best "souvenir" of the trip? Gonna be when Daddy finds that Gramma taught Ryan that he needs to hold up the roof of the van when we drive under bridges so they don't fall in on us. (Yeah, laugh it up Gramma.)
