The Cub Scout Pack's Hayride was Saturday afternoon / evening. The farm where they do it had put an Indian corn field into the middle of the field where they set out the pumpkins this year, and as all the kids kept trooping through the field, all I could think of was... CHILDREN OF THE CORN!!! At least none of them came out bearing scythes... I think our 3 decided that the slow, painful death process they put us through each & every day is a much better punishment for being adults....

Ryan had an ABSOLUTE BLAST going in & out of the corn field, & we all picked some corn to bring home for decoration. The adults all kept trying to figure out -- is Indian corn just grown for decoration, or does it serve an actual purpose? Guess that's a "when we have time to Google it" type of question / answer....

Here are all 4 boys "picking" their pumpkins. It had poured down rain the day before so everyone got nice & muddy (nothing like a patch of dirt for the pumpkin "field", eh??) which was fine -- we had the big boys wear their "old" shoes since we just spent $120 and some cents earlier that day at the mall buying them new shoes (leading their father to yell, "What are all these people doing at the Mall? Don't they realize you can buy this stuff on the internet & have it shipped to their house?" like some cranky old guy -- oh, wait, he IS a cranky old guy) and Ryan had on shoes that he had PlayDoh stuck to the bottoms of.... [eyeroll]

Mr. Middle-of-the-Wagon took this pic of the boys & I while we bounced around the back of the wagon during the hayride. Everyone had a blast, and we had coney dogs & chips for dinner courtesy of the Pack, and then some of the Den Leaders had brought their Dutch Ovens & they did desserts on the fire which turned out AWESOME (& gave me the idea that it would be a good gift for Mr. Needs-To-Get-Ready-For-Boy-Scout-Camping-Years for Christmas). We got home & had the kids Zyrec'd, showered and in bed by 8:30 pm, so it was a great evening overall!!

I am so glad you all had fun on your hayride. We tried on this year. They had a great area to feed the animals and each got a pony ride and a little hayride around an open field (two minutes), and then all the pumpkins where huge and not Meghan size. We sure do miss Ohio for that.
