WOOD BADGE C-15-08

I know I've mentioned that this month has been a "family light" one in our household; Harry took a 6-day course with the Boy Scout group called "Wood Badge". Today, as part of the Den Meeting, we surprised him with a birthday cake with the Wood Badge emblem on it. Our assistant Den Leader, Frank, also took Wood Badge, so I asked the kids to write them a note congratulating them on their accomplishment & thanking them for the time they give toward the Den. Frank's wife, Brenda, actually made the cake for the celebration & did an AWESOME job replicating the Wood Badge logo!

I took all of Harry's items from Wood Badge and mounted them on a foam board and displayed it for everyone to see. The boys & I gave him a copy of "
Rocket Boys" by Homer Hickam, which is what "October Sky" (the movie) was based upon. It was utilized by Wood Badge under the concept that as a Scout Leader, you are leaving a legacy behind... which is what the theme of Rocket Boys is. So... with that in mind, I went to Target & bought all the parents & Cubs a foam air rocket & we all went out back & shot rockets LOL!
