WHAT A BLOWHARD!

No, I'm not talking about political campaigns. Hurricane Ike blew through here and created such a ruckus! We watched the shingles on the houses across from us (first picture) just DANCE across the roofs... and our back yard neighbor lost part of the tree onto his house. We lost some of the shingles from above the middle eave for a cost of $250 - luckily our neighbor owns a very reputable roofing company so we won't have to wait too long for the repair. Plus, no telling what they'll find once they get up there!

We lost power from about 2 pm Sunday (right at the start of the Den Meeting, of course) and it popped back on at 6 am on Monday. The kids have been off of school & we're still waiting to hear about tomorrow. Grandmother is staying here tonight; her house has no electric and their school system has already cancelled Tuesday's classes. Just seems weird to have all this damage & lost electric, and not even have a storm to go along with it -- we had about 10 minutes of spitting rain & that was it! Just the massively strong winds...

We were the "Toddler Refuge Camp" this morning. Erin & Evan, Tammy & Ella all came to hang out. Their electric had come back on about 7:30 am, but then popped back off about an hour later. Everyone hung out and played and it was a great day!
