So for everyone who tunes in to my blog for those bursts of relief, ala "thank goodness that wasn't MY kid!" (shout out to Justina here LOL!), here's a good one for ya!
Since Harry was doing his final 3-day weekend for his Wood Badge Scout certification, after their soccer game on Saturday I took the 3 boys & Hannah up to Camp Gramma/Papaw.
Sunday Papaw was a Pastor's Assistant in church. Mind you, Grampa gets a bit (understatement) uptight when the kids are wiggly in church, so considering that Gramma & I were outnumbered, we thought we had it all covered. On the drive to church, we "discussed" (dictated) that the order into the pew would be Kevin, Gramma, Patrick, Ryan and then Mommy. Thus, Kevin could not antagonize ANYONE. We verified the order and clarified it once more before we walked in the door. (Of course, they tried to make us go in at different orders once we got there so we made a commotion in the aisle.)
Ryan was doing okay - I mean, after all, he IS a two year old, so I cut him some slack. I got Patrick settled down and the rest of his wiggles were spent entertaining Ryan. Again, I thought it was pretty much under control and was reasonable. Gramma & I had no problems with it.
Well, then we went up to communion. At Gramma & Papaw's church, you go up onto the altar, kneel around a "fence", and receive communion. Kevin saw his chance... and as we all stood up to leave the altar, he started poking at Ryan. A tussle among the 3 boys ensued -- AT THE ALTAR IN FRONT OF THE PASTOR -- and I was just flinching thinking pretty soon Papaw was gonna be smacking a grandson LOL! Gramma & I pushed them all out the door of the altar & we headed back to our seats, where once seated, I leaned over to them all & whispered, "Your Papaw is gonna have a COW!"
At this point, Ryan leans right up into Patrick's face, and VERY LOUDLY, says, "A COW! MOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" Okay, I admit it -- I couldn't help it. I started laughing. As did everyone else in hearing range LOL!
(Thankfully since everyone thought it was so cute Grampa DIDN'T have a cow.... whew!!)
So there's my "thank goodness that wasn't MY kid" story for you all!
