Report cards come home today & I rip them open.
Read the report from Kevin's teacher, who is now retired, about how he needs to work on reading, writing & math (just about covers everything, wouldn't ya think?) and take time to look over his work. No news to us.
Read the glowing report from Patrick's teacher about how wonderful he is, what a great leader, so on & so forth. In other words, he had his face in his book so he wasn't a problem in the classroom.
I glance at the bottom where it says "Recommended for Grade _____" and she has written in "2".
I look at it again, thinking I must just have "2" on the brain & SURELY it says "3".
Nope.
2.
Phone the school & talk to the school secretary...
Secy: "Oh, so you got that today?" (Guess I was the first parent call LOL!)
Me: "Ummmm.... was this an oops on the part of the teacher, or was there a big communication lapse this year?"
Secy: "Oh. I guess I'd better let you talk to the Principal."
At this point I'm starting to sweat, thinking there MUST have been something going on that we were TOTALLY MADE UNAWARE OF.
Principal: "Mrs. O? Yes, it was an oops by the teacher. Guess I need to go check the rest of her report cards & I'll change that in the master."
WHEW!!!!
Can you imagine my household if Kevin thought he was going to 3rd and Patrick wasn't??????
HELL. PURE HELL.
