Thanks to e-friends Dori and MG I've heard about some cool summer reading programs...
Barnes & Noble has a summer reading program: "Imagine if You Called It A Frinkle" where the kids (Grade 1-6) read 8 books of their own choosing, write some responses, and then they can turn the sheets in to a Barnes & Noble store for a free book (as designated by B&N).
Also, Sylvan Learning Systems is running a summer reading program called "Book Adventures". Book Adventure is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. Book Adventure was created by and is maintained by Sylvan Learning.

That's cool about the Barnes and Noble thing! I remember last summer Pizza Hut did a summer reading thing. I'll have to track down that link and send it out.
