The boys just competed in their first Destination Imagination (DI) competition on Saturday and had a BLAST!! Their challenge was called "TwisDId History", and they were to take something from history and change it. They chose the concept of the earth being flat versus round, and instead of Ptolemy the Astronomer that said the earth was round, it was "King Aha" from Memphis, Egypt (a real place & Egyptian king!). Then, King Aha transforms into 1958's Elvis, who is the King of the US and everyone rocks around the Pyramid House. It was quite hysterical, especially since Kevin was King Aha / Elvis -- and Patrick's stint as the protective Secret Service agent is quite hysterical, too!
We've edited the video so the introductions of the kids are not in it, and we also didn't include the discussion that they had with the judges afterwards -- and unfortunately, the most hysterical part didn't get taped (ack!). Part of their challenge was to use four shapes to make a magical item -- so some of their shapes made up this magical pyramid that they used. So the Head Appraiser asked the kids to tell her about their props, and on their way to the pyramid, Patrick pipes up and says, "Now, you do understand that this pyramid really isn't magical, don't you?" I about bit my tongue off trying not to laugh LOL!!! Just the way he said it, I'm not sure he didn't think that she was certain one way or another LOL!!
