Well, Mr. K was on the bubble last night with his karate pre-test. Not only did he get yelled at in the first TWO MINUTES of weapons class & told to "Pay Attention!" (as only Sensei can roar at someone -- I need to learn how to do that!!!) but then after his pre-test for his katas, Sensei told him that if he didn't start practicing he was going to still be a yellow belt next quarter.
(Patrick, of course, looked wonderful during his pre-test.)
I've already told that child that he's going to owe me the money back for this quarter if he doesn't pass. If he would just concentrate instead of just "going through the motions" (that was a direct quote from Sensei, even though his father & I have been telling him that for oh, THE WHOLE SUMMER) and actually put some power into his kata I think he'd be fine.
Test is on Aunt Vicki's birthday. Let's hope some karma rubs off on him by that time....
