AIR SHOW

The last weekend of July we took the boys to the Expo Center at the Air Show. It was an amazing day, full of "never gonna happen agains"! First, we were following the Expo's directions to the location, and after we pulled in & parked (in an almost empty lot) we realized that everyone else who was parking there had a special tag hanging on their car... so the parking lot attendant must not have been paying attention to closely when he waved us in! (So that's the first "never gonna happen again"!)

The kids had a blast doing aircraft stuff, making airplanes, rockets, etc.... and the fun part were the little pedal airplanes that were set up that the big boys pushed Ryan around in. Now, I'm not sure the pictures do it justice, but the look of SHEER TERROR while the baby was being whipped around the corners was pretty funny (& mimicked the look of terror on OUR faces!).

Then, we stopped to chat with a local author, Josie Daval, who was making paper airplanes with the kids. She has written a book titled The Wright Twist, which is a fictional book about kids in the times of the Wright Brothers flying attempts in Dayton. She was really cool and I had wanted to pick the book up but since it seems to be for kids a bit older I figured I'd hold off. Anywayyyyy.... as we were chatting we'd told her we weren't sure if we were going in to the Air Show or not because of the heat & having the baby with us... and after we had moved to the next booth, she came up & offered me her COMPLIMENTARY tickets! We were just TOTALLY blown away by her generosity and thinking to do that!

So we went on in to the Air Show and the kids had a BLAST! It was a relief not to feel like we had to do & see everything (whew!) since we'd been given 5 tickets (number 2 on the "never gonna happen again" list LOL!). The big boys walked through several of the planes and got to sit in some different vehicles, and we were there for the timing of the Thunderbirds air show! I think R's ears were starting to hurt towards the end, as he was starting to cry a bit, but it was just really neat to be that close & to see the planes doing their stunts!
