THIS BABY AIN'T DRAGGIN'!! [sic]

We have a partial season ticket pass to the A level minor league team here, the Dragons (hence the play on words in the title - aren't I just too clever??!!!??). The other night we were trying to get rid of the tix since the boys were in Cub Scout Day Camp, and the following night they had their karate test & I was worried about them being too sleepy, but had no takers so we decided to go, get there at the start, and head out after about 45 minutes.

Well, THAT plan was laid aside pretty quickly LOL!!

When we sat in our seats, someone from the Dragons entertainment team came up & asked us how old R was & if he was walking yet -- so the brothers responded, "No, he RUNS!" (True!) She then asked us if we'd be interested in doing the Toddler Race, so we figured, why not? They had us pick out a shirt, put it on R along with a bike helmet & they took his picture for the jumbo-tron, then gave us a reminder slip of where & when to meet up!

OF COURSE, we both realize that we do NOT have a camera on us (can you imagine?!???!!!) so I ran to the gift shop and purchased a $15 (ouch!) disposable camera (with a flash that ended up not working anyway - grrrrrr!!!!!).

So, at the end of the 2nd inning, we met up with the Dragons folks (after a quick poop dipe change LOL) and they took us, and two other families, down into the basement of the stadium, behind the dugout. They outfitted R with his color shirt and the helmet, and when it was time, all the families were led out onto the field. (The brothers got to hang out in the dugout -- P said he was so excited he forgot to look for his favorite ball player LOL!)

H held R and went to the "start" line -- they had a padded "race track" that they unrolled and the other kids all lined up with their parents at the end. As each child was announced, the parent was to hold them up & their picture (taken earlier) was flashed up on the screen. Here's Ryan!!
I went to the other end, with my trusty little disposable camera, and kneeled down. They had warned us that they had to fill 90 seconds, and that kids generally were surprised by the crepe paper finish line, so we were to just let them go & do whatever it was they were going to do -- so they could fill their 90 seconds!
They started the kids, I called to R, and he took off TRUCKIN' down the little lanes! When he got to the "finish line", like they predicted, he was a bit taken aback... so he plopped down onto his butt. I was laughing so hard and trying to remember to take pictures (& forgetting to forward the camera -- too many years of shooting digital LOL!)... so I kept calling to him and he just lifted up the crepe paper and crawled underneath to me!
SOOOO HYSTERICAL!!
Now, when you look at the picture, you may notice something interesting.... THE OTHER TWO KIDS HAVEN'T EVEN LEFT THE STARTING LINE!!!
Yes, our little speedster left 'em in the dust! The two girls didn't stand a chance, even if they were bigger / older! Although as I said, they should have known that a boy would ALWAYS go runnin' to Mama!! ROFLOL!!!

Adorable!! I can't believe the other kids didn't follow suit when Ryan started running - that's hilarious that he kicked their butts! :) LOL
