And weren't we just so PROUD ~eyeroll~ to get the phone call from the school principal yesterday that the boys were in the office because they had decided to smash & kick the school pumpkins?
Apparently their class, and the PM class, have a science experiment going outside their classroom (on the playground) with pumpkins, and the two of them along with two more of their little future-juvie-hallers decided to kick them, smash them & throw them. Lovely, eh?
So, along with a chat from the principal about vandalism... and then a chat from Mommy & Daddy (via speakerphone) about vandalism and inappropriate behaviors.... and no TV or computer & their elevated status as "Mommy's Little Slaves"... the boys are to replace the pumpkins. (Thank goodness we didn't carve all our pumpkins!!)
Being the cruel Mommy I am, I made the two of them work together (hey - they worked together to vandalize, right?) and carry one of our huge @ss pumpkins down to the bus stop (the thing probably weighs 20-25 pounds). I did finally relent and go with Daddy's suggestion that they could put it on their little wagon -- otherwise I'd probably STILL be out there waiting for them to get to the corner! I also made sure to take pictures -- I am, after all, cruel... and I knew Daddy would love to see it, too!

Update:
I called the school office to let them know that the boys were only bringing in one pumpkin (instead of the two I had said they'd bring yesterday). I also wanted to alert the school principal that if she had a closet cruel streak like me, she'd love to get a glimpse of them coming off the bus with their pumpkin.
Well, she just called me back about 20 minutes ago -- seems that she was watching for them, took another kindy kid into the building & when she came out, here comes Patrick following behind Mr. Snyder (bus driver), who asked where the pumpkin went. She stopped them, asked where brother was, found out he had skipped off into school already, and told P to go get him. Guess that he came back out with Kevin AND another one of their little cronies, and she told them they were responsible for getting the pumpkin into the school. (I just really like their principal LOL!!) She said she really wished she'd had a video camera watching the three of them try to figure out how to get it into the building & to the back of the school to their classroom.
I'm STILL chuckling!!!
We both agree they've definitely learned their lesson, and her comment was that if this is the worst I ever have to face during their school tenure I'm lucky!

I just love the way you handled the boys 'vandalism' and the fact that the principal not only backed you up but also followed through. You are a fantastic parent(s).
Janice
Michelle,
Your "mothering" is fantastic. I am proud of you for haivng the boys handle their own problem that they created. You are to be commended, again.
