The boys' soccer karma seemed to be back with them last night. Musta been that nap I forced on them (wink). And lest you think your eyes deceive you... YES, that IS Kevy running after the ball!! He did AWESOME last night -- I was worried for a bit because he took a MASSIVE ball kick right in the nose/forehead, but after sitting out for a few minutes he shook it off & begged Coach to let him play some more!!
(Yes, I was shocked as all get-out, too! Maybe something shook loose when he took that header LOL!!)
Patrick had some GREAT defensive moves... He was playing in the goal area for part of the game & blocked some shots, and he was really working on following through after kicking the ball! (He had just been kicking the ball & then standign there watching it, instead of going after it to continue kicking it.) I do need to remember to talk to him about what Coach means when he tells him to "kick outside" when he's doing a kick-in (at this stage they don't throw in - they kick in balls that go out-of-bounds)...
But it was a really energizing game -- all the parents were super jazzed because Coach set it up for one of the boys to get a goal, and he ended up getting TWO in a row. This child is sooo cute and spends the whole time with a huge smile on his face & laughing. He is just turning 5 this week and he just bounces around and hardly ever touches the ball, so when he got his goals all the parents were just jumping up & down! I heard Coach say that now he needed to get a goal for Kevin, and he was trying to get it set up, but I don't think Kevin was understanding why Coach kept telling him to get in front of the goal. Another thing to work on this week LOL!!
Thank goodness that Sean plays soccer -- he & the girls "warmed up" Kevy last night before we left for the game LOL!!
